Talaud Regency :
This regency is situated at the Northern most point of North Sulawesi, directly bordering with southern Philippines. It is comprised of many small island. However some of them are uninhabited, surrounded by endless, beautiful white and black sand beaches, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, diving, water sport or just sunbathing and enjoying the scenery . Among the beautiful white sand beaches are located in Sara island, Intata island, and Para island.
The Mane'e ceremony, held annual in various areas of Talaud island regency, is a distinct attraction to be seen. It is a traditional fishing ceremony that take place among the shallow coral beaches, where the community works together in collecting an abundant fish harvest at the time when winds and waves are calm usually in May.

Sangihe Regency
The Archipelago of Sangihe is regency or district which is based in the most Northerly from Indonesia whose borders inderectly connect with the Philippines. The Archipelago has wide as 1,102.93 Kms which lies on 2'3' to 127' 12' of East Longitude.
The region also has 112 islands where there are 30 islands inhabited and 82 islands which are not inhabited.
The largest part of the land is mountainous. There are several active volcanoes like mount Awu and mount Ruang.
According to the Archeologist Mr.Petter Bellwud : 500 bc to 200 bc
the region of Sangihe archipelago was inhabited by mankind. This is proved because of the archeological findings in the form of tools made of stones, the broken clay objects, as well as food leftover over the period. The people of Sangihe also called the ethnic of "Papuhang" such as : deduhe, batang, dalise kaliusu, tamak, nenek.
People who visit Sangihe can experience tourism of marine, adventure and culture (culture festival) which is always celebrated on January 31st as the anniversary of the region of Sangihe.

Minahasa Regency :

The Minahasa (alternative spelling: Minahassa or Mina hasa) are an ethnics group located in the North Sulawesi province of Indonwsia (in past called by Portuguese as North Selebes). The Minahasa speak Minahasan Language and Manado Malay (also known as Minahasa Malay), a language closely related to the Malay language

Minahasa Raya is the area covering Bitung City, Manado City and Minahasa Regency, which are three of the seven regional administrations in the province of North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Originally inhabited by Malay-speaking peoples, the region was colonized in the 16th century by the Portuguese, then the Dutch. The Minahasa identify strongly with the Dutch language and the Protestant There is a considerable number of people from the Minahasa living in the Netherlands, as part of the Indo community. faith — so strongly, in fact, that when Indonesia became independent in 1945 factions of political elites of the region pleaded with the Dutch to let it become a province of the Netherlands.

Their music, too, is highly influenced by that of their former colonial rulers; their festivals feature large marching ensembles made up of clarinets, saxaphones, trumpets, trombones, and tubas, all constructed out of local bamboo.
North Minahasa Regency.
One of the most spectacular objects found in this regency is the Klabat mountain, the highest mountain in North Sulawesi. This is surrouinded by fabulous sceneries of vast green forest, coconut plantation and spectacular beaches, the most beautiful among them are located in the northern coast of the mainland. Likupang beach resort is a true paradise, accentuated by the white sand beaches, virgin emerald green forests and hills, and wondrous sea gardens teemingwith magnificent flora and fauna, and numerous isolated beaches along its protected bay. Gangga island is surrounded by powdery, soft, white sand beach, just rightfor marine tourism activities. With a majestic panorama, Gamngga island is facilitated by a luxurious accomodation, Gangga island Resort , with its ideal marine tourism facilities. Other surrounding islands are: Bangka, Lehaga ,Talise island etc.
In the village of Sawangan lies a historic burial ground called Waruga. This is an ancient stone grave ( Sarcophagi ) of the Minahasan ancestors, dating back to the megalithic age. 144 stone graves were built consisting of a hollowed stone based and a stone roof -shaped lid, to house the remains in the xsitting position. The pre christian belief was that babies were born in the sitting position in the mother's womb. Therefore , it is in this position that the humans must pass on to eternity. The engravings on the stones depict the cause of death, the deceased hobies, character or occupation, etc.

South Minahasa Regency
This regency is situated approximately 70 km from Manado city, but is easily accessible via the Trans Sulawesi highway. It is potential for a variety of tourism activities, among others, marine tourism, agro-tourism, religious as well as cultural-tourism. Several sites are available for enjoying beautiful seas of South Minahasa, such as Moinit beach and Bentenan beach. Bentenan beach Resort provides an impressive accomodation with all the basic comforts as pleasant place to enjoy sunbathing and recreation on the soft, white sand beach , as well as diving and snorkeling around the brethtaking sea garden.

Bolaang Mongondow Regency
This is the Southern most regency of North Sulawesi , bordering with Gorontalo province ( once a part of North Sulawesi ). It is about 3 hours away from Manado, via the Trans-Sulawesi highway, passing through some very scenic villages, plantation , and rice field along the coastline or via the highland areas.
For adventure in the open natrure, Bolaang Mongondow offers a variety of places, such as the Kosinggolan dam, with a beautiful park suitable for fishing , swimming , as well as other recreations. Moaat lake is situated in the highland, about 900 m above sea level, with a cool and pleasant atmosphere as a great place to visit, because it is surounded by a vast forest of green trees and scenic views with various bird species and wild rare animals.
Ranoyasu beach is a beautiful coastline area, surrounded by leafy green trees and is a popular place for recreation especially for the locals. Another beach recreation area is Molosing beach, known for its beautiful ocean park for visitors to go fishing, boating , diving and swimming. Bukaka pool is situated at the top of hill surrounded by a vast green vegetation and besutiful scenery which makes it a perfect place for retreat in the open air.
Bolaang Mongondow also offers a wildlife reserve called "Nani warta bone National Park " which is rich in indigenous flora and fauna of North Sulawesi.

AWU VOLCANO
Awu volcano which is located at Sangihe regency North Sulawesi province is situated about 250 km to the North of Manado.
This type composite and Stratovolcano lies on the intersection between 03 11 North Latitude and 125 27' 30” East Longitude.
The massive Gunung Awu highest peak is about 1340 m above sea level, contains a summit crater lake that was 1 km wide and 172 m deep in 1992, but was largely ejected during the 1996 eruption. This volcano is an A type active volcano and at least 16 eruptions was recorded since 1640 and Awu is one of Indonesia's dead liest volcanoes. Powerful explosive eruption in 1711, 1812, 1856, 1892, 1966 produced devastating pyroclastic flows and lahars.

KARANGETANG VOLCANO
Karangetang volcano which is located at sitaro regency North Sulawesi Province also known as “API SIAU” and one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes.
This A type active volcano is a conical shape with average slope about 25, and 40 eruptions have been recorded since 1675.
karangetang volcano has also Flank crater two in the South 100 m slopes and 800 m slopes and one in the North West 950 m slopes.
Pyroclastic Flow hazard have been noticed since the 1967 explosion, then 1984, 1985, 1988, 1992 and 1996.

SOPUTAN VOLCANO
Soputan volcano which is located at South Minahasa Regency North Sulawesi Province is situated about 80 km to the South of Manado. This type composite and stratovolcano lies on the intersection between 1,11 North Latitude and 124,73 East Longitude.
At least 26 eruptions have been recorded since 1700's. Generally with moderately explosive ash emission and Earth quake. Soputan is one of Sulawesi's most active volcanoes and during historical time the locus of eruptions has included both the summit crater and Aeseput.

LOKON VOLCANO
A 1579 m high stratovolcano, Lokon is located in Tomohon municipality. Lies on the intersection between 1 21,5 North and 124 47,5' East, Lokon volcanic is a part of Sangihe arc system. There is no crater at summit but only Flat area. Empung crater which is younger than Lokon, has width of 400 m and 150 m deep. There are two peaks which has a distance of about 2,2 km from one to another and there is an active double crater Tompaluan which is located at the sadle of these two peaks.

MAHAWU VOLCANO
Lies immediately East of Lokon Empung, Mahawu is capped by a 180 m wide, 140 m deep crater that sometimes contains a small crater lake.
This stratovolcano type location on 1,358 North and 124, 858 East has two Pyroclastic Cones on it's Northern Flank.
Summit elevation 1324 m, Mahawu volcano less active than it's neighbor, Lokon Empung. Since 1789, Mahawu has been restricted to occasional small explosive eruptions recorded.

AMBANG VOLCANO
Situated on Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi about 350 km South of manado. Ambang is a complex volcano at the Western of the Northern arm of Sulawesi island. Lies on 0.75'N 0'45'0' North latitude and 124,42'E 124'25'0' East longitude.
There are 2 lakes, Moat and Tondok, at the elevation 750m Ambang stratovolcano has crater up to 400m in diameter, and 5 solfatara field are located at the summit.
The only historical account of its eruption occured somewhere in 1850s

TANGKOKO NATIONAL PARK
The English Naturalist Alfred Russel Wallacea in 1860 studied the unique flora and fauna of Sulawesi in this region. This nature reserve covers more than 3000 ha located on the slopes of the mountains Dua Saudara and Tangkoko, composed of impressive green hills and valleys with amazing views of natural beauty.
Tangkoko National park is home of Sulawesi Endemic animals such as Black Macaca, Cus Cus Bears, snakes, wild pig, hornbill bird and the smallest primates in the world Tarsius Spectrum.

* Crested Black macaque ( Macaca Nigra ), Spectral Tarsier ( Tarsius Spectrum ), Bear cuscus (Ailurops Ursinus), False Vampire bat (Megaderma spasma), Sulawesi forest pig (Sus Celebensis), Babirusa (Babyrousa babyruss), Timor deer (Cervis Timorensis)

BIRDS

* Maleo ( Macrocephalon Maleo ), Red knobbed Hornbill (Aceros Cassidix), Sulawesi Dwarf Hornbill (Penelopedes Exarhatus), Blue-headed wood Kingfisher (Actenoides Monarchus), Lilac-cheeked Kingfisher (Cittura Cyanotis), Ornate Lorikeet (Trichoglossus Ornatus), Blue-backed Parrot ((Tanygnathus Sumatranus),White-bellied Sea Eagle (Haliaaetus Leucogaster), Brahminy Kite (Haliastur Indus), Sulawesi Scops Owl (Otus Manadensis), Grey-side Flowerpecker (Dicaeum Celebicum), Reef Egret (Egretta Sacra), Lesser Frigate Bird (Fregata Ariel).

BUNAKEN NATIONAL PARK
Bunaken National Marine Park was formally established in 1991. The park covers a total surface area of 89,065 ha, including the five islands of Bunaken, Manado Tua, Mantehage, Nain and Siladen.
Clear visibility up to 35-40 m refreshing in temperature 27-29 c and harbor some of the highest level of biodiversity in the world. The park has arround 70 genera of corals, compare this to a mere 10 in Hawaii.
The number of fish species is may be slightly higher than in the Philippines where 2500 species or nearly 70 % of all fish species known to the Indo Western pacific are found.
