NORTH SULAWESI VOLCANOES EXPLORATION

Day to day itinerary :

day 01. You'll be met at the airport , city sightseeing, and drop at the harbor for cruising to Sangihe isle.
day 02. Check in at the hotel and after breakfast you'll be explored Awu Volcano
day03. Cruising to Siau isle, check in at the hotel and after breakfast you'll be explored Karangetang volcano, overnight on Karangetang
day 04. Cruising to mahoro isle, overnight in this island to ov
day 05. Back to Siau and for transfer to Manado
day 06. Drive to Bolaang Mongondow, check in at Moaat rersort and explore Moaat lake
day 07. After breakfast you'll be explored Ambang volcano, overnight on Ambang
day 08. From Bolaang Mongondow you'll be drove to Tomohon, check in at the hotel, and after lunch have a "flower city tour" and will be continue to explore Mahawu volcano
day 09. After breakfast you'll be explored Lokon volcano
day 10. Drive to Touure village to explore Soputan Volcano, overnight on Soputan
day 11. From Soputan you'll be drove to Tangkoko National park , overnight in Tangkoko
day 12. Early morning trekking in the jungle of Tangkoko, after breakfast drive to Manado and sail to Bunaken, overnight in Bunaken
day 13. Back to manado and transfer to the airport

WORLD OCEAN CONFERENCE 2009

Manado, 11 - 15 May 2009 .....A high level conference of heads of states which have coastal and marine territories, eminent people and stakeholders (scientists, NGOs, Journalists, private sectors) discussing global ocean issues.
International agreements and conventions are important and have been adequately accepted. However, there is a lack of political willingness to drive forward and further implement such agreement.
WOC' 09 will provide a platform where world leaders and stakeholders will convene to make commitments for sustainable development of marine resources.
Given the fact that Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country and possesses the highest marine biodiversity in the world, the conference will strengthen Indonesia's participation in the regional and International forum.
Gradual degradation of marine and fishery resources has been related to over-fishing, pollution and climate change.
Global efforts to stop this trend are urgently required.

COELACANTH (Latimeria Manadoensis)

Coelacanth is the only existing primitive fish species and belongs to the order of coelacanthiformes. Based on fossil record, coelacanth first appeared on earth ~360 million years ago during the" great age of fish" in the paleozoicum era, 100 million year before the birth of dinosaurus in the jurassic period. Coelacanth was previously thought to be extinct since 65 million years ago until a living specimen was netted off in the East London water, South Africa in 1938. The fish was recognized as a living fossil and named Latimeria Chalumnae . The finding was dubbed as the greatest zoological discovery of the 20th century.
In 1997, a coelacanth was incidentally encountered by atourist couple in a traditional market in Manado, North Sulawesi. This species is different from it's South African relative with an estimated divergence time between the two of ~30-40 million years ago, named Latimeria Manadoensis and called "king of the sea" (ikan Raja Laut) by the locals. In 1998 and 2007, two coelacanth were unintentionally caught alive by local fishermen in Manado bay. Today they have become very important specimens for science. Research in the last three years using ROV ( Remotely Operated Vehicle ) has recorded seven individuals of coelacanth in the Sulawesi Sea
